In Piscinarium we are specialized in the sale of salt chlorinators or also known as salt electrolysis equipment. This equipment generates chlorine from salt (NaCl) dissolved in the pool water.

For a correct operation of the salt chlorinator, it is vital that the concentration of salt (or salinity) in the water is correct, so that the equipment can correctly disinfect the pool water.

A suitable salt level will be between 2500 to 3000 ppm (lower range) or 3000 to 5000 ppm (upper range) for most salt chlorinators. However, ideal levels may vary by manufacturer.

That is why you should pay attention to this aspect and take measurements from time to time to find out what is the salt concentration in your pool. And one of the easiest ways to do this is by using AquaChek Test Strips.

NOTE: It is recommended to measure salt levels once a month.

Below are the instructions for use of the AquaChek Test Strips (Salt Level):

1. Fill a small jar with approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) of pool or spa water.

2. Insert the lower end of the strip into the water sample. For accurate results keep the top half of the strip completely dry.

3. When the yellow band turns to black, which usually occurs in 3 to 4 minutes, remove the strip from the water sample and determine where the highest white dot (white peak) appears on the numerical scale of the test strip.

4. Compare that value to the chart included in the bottle.

These AquaChek strips measure salt levels from 400 to 7,000 ppm (sodium chloride).
