When it comes to disinfecting the water in any pool, more and more people are choosing to use salt chlorinators, by means of which you will be able to treat the water in your pool in an easy and quick way, and which provide a number of advantages over the traditional system.

Their main benefits are that they allow you to fully automate the process of water disinfection, get a much higher water quality, avoid eye irritation and skin irritation and dryness, eliminate the typical smell of chlorine, ..

Salt chlorination (or electrolysis) equipment can be used in pools of all sizes (private or residential pools, community pools, public pools, Olympic pools, ...). The only thing that will vary depending on the volume of water and the number of bathers will be the model or version of the equipment.

HOW A SALT ELECTROLYSIS SYSTEM WORKS

You should add a small amount of salt (approximately 5-6 gr./l depending on the equipment) to the pool water when installing the salt chlorinator, regardless of the brand (Zodiac, Idegis, AstralPool, CTX, ...).

This water, slightly salty, will pass through sheets of titanium alloy (called electrodes) that, previously, will have been installed in the return pipes of the pool's purification system.

When the salt water passes through the electrodes, the salt (sodium chloride) is converted into active disinfectant or chlorine (sodium hypochlorite), which destroys algae, bacteria and fungi. This disinfectant is reconverted into salt, and therefore, in this way, it is renewed forming a cycle, without any loss of this natural element.

It will only be necessary, therefore, to check periodically the level of salinity (observing the indicator of machine or making measurements with analytical strips) to maintain this concentration of 5-6 gr./l.

When it is below this concentration, add the appropriate amount of salt to recover the loss of salt due to water renewals.

TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT:

- Check (when necessary) the cells of the equipment every month. In pools with well water or high calcium hardness you should check more often.

- Check that there are no water leaks or air inlets.

- Check the probes.
