During the winter season and especially in cold or very cold areas of the country, one of the problems you should pay attention to is the possible freezing of the pool water.

The extreme cold and a significant drop in temperatures (temperatures below 0ºC) can cause the pool water to freeze, causing significant and irreparable damage to the pool walls. To prevent this from happening, in today's post we show you a series of tips to do before the first frosts.

PREVENT POOL WATER FROM FREEZING

There are some small measures you can take to avoid possible problems when the pool water freezes. Here are the most important ones:

1.Use a pool cover: winter covers help conserve heat during the day and sunshine hours, helping to keep the water at slightly warmer temperatures. This will make it more difficult for

2. Use hibernation floats: these types of floats are placed floating in the water diagonally across the pool. In this way you will prevent frost or ice from forming. Another of its particularities, is that they allow to absorb the increase of the volume of the water, to release the excess of pressure and to avoid, this way, any possible crack in our swimming pool. These floats have holes that allow to tie them together to adapt them to the specific dimension of our pool.

3.To generate movement in the water: to overcome the first frosts, or in areas where the winter is mild, it is also useful to start the water pump to generate a movement in the water and break the possible ice sheets. However, during the harshest winter, it is recommended to immobilize the water, empty all the water pipes to avoid possible breaks and protect the pump and the filter by covering them with an insulating material.

We also take this opportunity to inform you that during the winter season it is advisable to hibernate the pool water. If you do not know how to do it, in our post "How to hibernate the water of a swimming pool" we explain you how to do it.
